Which toilet-finding app is best in Taiwan?
It depends what you need. For static locations, the government toilet directory or Google Maps will do. Poop Hunter adds the “right now” layer — players report toilet paper, cleanliness, amenities and whether it is open, so you are less likely to arrive at a locked door. It also turns toilet-finding into a game (every toilet is a Shlime; reporting is your attack), which keeps the reports coming.

How is this different from the government toilet map?
The government dataset gives you locations. Poop Hunter adds live player reports on top of it.

Is Poop Hunter free?
Yes — free forever. It is supported by ads; there is no paid currency.

Do I need an account?
No. You can search, navigate and report without signing up. Linking an account is optional and only used to keep your progress across devices.

Where does the toilet data come from? Is it updated?
Locations come from the Ministry of Environment’s national public toilet open data. Corrections are pushed to the app automatically, so you do not have to wait for an app update.

Some apps say Taiwan has 45,000+ public toilets — why does Poop Hunter show fewer?
The official dataset counts individual stalls (men’s, women’s, accessible are separate rows) — that is where 45,611 comes from. Poop Hunter merges rows at the same address into one place, which gives 18,000+ locations. You are looking for a place to go, not a row in a spreadsheet, so we count places.

What is the fastest way when I really need to go?
Open the app — the map centres on you and shows nearby toilets. Tap a card for one-tap navigation. If you are walking, the home-screen widget shows the nearest one without opening the app.

Can I filter for accessible, diaper tables or family toilets?
Yes. You can filter by accessible, family, diaper table and all-gender toilets, plus crowd-reported amenities such as bidet, soap and parking.

Can player reports be spammed?
Reports are aggregated rather than taken one at a time, recent reports weigh more, and anything inappropriate can be reported and removed.

How often does the home-screen widget update?
The widget shows the nearest toilet worked out when you last opened the app. To save battery and protect your privacy it does not keep tracking you in the background, so it will not update by itself. Two ways to refresh: open the app and go to the map, or tap the refresh button on the widget to recompute from your current location. If it has not updated for over 30 minutes the widget shows a “last updated” time.
